Hey all, I hope you're well and safe. This seems like the worst time to be thinking about school, but with all the free time I have on my hands... I'm graduating (hopefully) in December from a Theatre BA program at a SUNY School. I definitely enjoyed my program- lots of good acting foundations, great singing training,…

So I am a 19 year old female. I wanted to be an actress since I was 7 but struggled with crippling anxiety until very recently, I basically figured out how to deal with it and I would say I have very little anxiety now. I design clothes and just opened a label that does VERY well. Dropped out of college because of it.…

Hello everyone! So basically I am pretty young, 15 years old. I discovered acting when I was like 12 and ever since I've wanted to become an actor. I want to go to college and study acting there. For some reason, lately, I have been feeling down about acting. Doing the work doesn't really seem fun. I still get that hin…

I wanted to let people know, since that is a common question right now. The Actors School is offering online classes this summer. The school is based in Austin, Texas, but the online format means that it shouldn't matter too much where you live. https://theactorsschool.org/index.php/adult-summer-classes-2020/ I have ta…

I have seen many posts and have noticed many scams in the acting business. It’s honestly really sad to see many people trying to scam clueless actors into their bs. Could we possibly dedicate this post to commenting scammers to stay clear of and people to trust? I’m not looking for karma. I just want to hear some other…

Backstory: I’m a 15 year old with really nothing next to my name in acting, save for some leads in school productions, and I’d really wanted to become an actor until around 2 years ago. I think it was my other studies, or maybe something along those lines, that had made me lose focus, and really, I’d lost all interest.…

Hello everyone, I hope you are safe and healthy. So, I was wondering. How can international actors with no representation get into auditions in the first place. Internationals can't audition without a work visa and they can't get a work visa unless they get a job that sponsors it. This loop hole is insane and a real ki…

I really want to attend Elizabeth Mestnik's acting studio to join the program for studying Meisner's technique. I have absolutely zero experience in acting. Hey actor friends! A bit of background...I am an American actor who moved to the UK with my partner while he completes a PhD program. I was taking regular part-time classes in the Southeast and had an agent in the Southeast region of the US. I was starting to get bigger and more exciting auditions before we moved. Sinc…

When an actor repped at a major agency (CAA, WME, UTA) is sent on auditions do the agents send the casting director a resume or do they just go in and audition with just a headshot. I would think that at that level, just being repped by one of them would suffice enough for a resume.

Hey I’m in nyc and am not an actor. However I’d really like to let loose with others and kind of go crazy. Not in a depressing serious way but in a fun silly funny way. Like people acting like monkeys, make funny faces and noises, dance around and stuff with guidance from a teacher or leader. I’m looking to do this for…

Okay so first I want to say that I'm not a professional actor and I'm not interested in theater really. But I've been really intrigued with the idea of acting lately, the way you can get in the mind of a character and become someone completely different. That is amazing to me. Anyways, i've been curious about something…

Last year I moved to Seattle and started taking acting classes, doing stand up, and some other endeavors, with the long term goal of making a living by not sitting in a cubicle. Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that to become a better actor you go to acting lessons, you analyse film and then the other 90% is actually ACTING a scene or whatever. I've recently come to the conclusion there are two types of actors.
