Would it be a terrible thing to shoot some two person scenes from old tv shows for a beginning reel that can be edited to feature each actor? I have access to people and equipment from my filmmaking class to make one. I just don't have any great script ideas and the student films I have done have mostly been voiced ove…

I'm a actor/motion capture performer with a few small credits. I'm interested in moving to a larger market, but I'm not ready for LA. Does anyone know anything about motion capture opportunities in Austin/Dallas? I know there are a lot of game studios, but are there many auditions? Is there an agency that works more wi…

Hey fellow actors! I am in the tedious process of trying to hone in on my brand, or how I'll sell myself to the industry. I've made a list of adjectives in a google document and I'm hoping you all can help me out by scrolling through a selecting 5-15 (or more!) words that you think represent me based on my headshots! I…

I'm currently taking an auditioning class and we had a NY casting director come in as a guest. She'd stated that due to my intense eyes, I looked like a period actress; and that I would suit roles like a maid, 1950's french woman, or mayor's wife type character. I live in the Kansas City area and know that there aren't…

Hi there, DD booked a show (YAY!!) and now must join SAG. The fee is so high!! She's 18 and still in HS. We plan to "help" her pay (meaning we will be paying) but I was wondering if anyone negotiated a payment plan with SAG. They offered one but the terms were still a bit much for my very shallow pocket. Feel fre…

I know this has been discussed and we aren't supposed to talk politics here however, is there any news on the current tax bill regarding actors and unreimbursed business expenses? Everything I've read is from late December with no recent updates.

I just got hit hard with the flu. Fortunately, I didn't have any gig this week, but wondering if anyone out there has had experience with having to do a role while ill. And how did it go. I think the best solution is to not do it, stay home...

Before we ask our new (first) agent, we would like your opinion on whether we should submit to AA or LACasting or inform agent to submit? Our agent is on the PARF list, so I would assume agent might have more clout with CD's than a blind submission from hundreds of others. Agent has gotten several auditions that we n…

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/deductions-actors.html This says that the new tax law did not repeal the Qualified Performing Artist Deduction, so low-earning actors can still deduct expenses against employment income -- just not kids earning over $16K.

DD has one commercial and it paid $200 for limited distribution. What would be some rates we should shoot for? One non-union is $750/12 session (for print and video), $1500 video buyout if in final edit, $1000 print buyout if used in final edit, 10% agent's fee. Is that about top of the line or average? Others I se…

Just a heads up for everyone to check their CC bill for charges from LA Casting. My son's account was credited in Dec. 2017 (after I emailed them and asked) and was told he had a free account AND free media hosting through May 2018. With zero warning, I received a receipt from them today for January charges!

Hi. My son has two agents. Big bicoastal. And small local. They don't get along. It's a pain sometimes. But anyway. In another post, several people heaped praise on USC as a top school for student films. Are there others in the LA area, like USC. So, to make it short and sweet, I wanted to know the BEST way to email your headshots and resume to a Casting Director. I read somewhere that it's not a good idea to send them as an attachment. Is this at all true. Thank you.

We've had two breakdowns submitted by our new agent, both from Casting Networks, that never appeared in my lists for auditions. Do agents see things that we, the general subscribers do not see? I monitor daily. And, does it work the same way for Actors Access? Thanks
