So last month i posted on this subreddit grating about getting sent videos of people acting out emotions instead of acting out the script. Today i found out why! Spoke to an actress i know about it, and turns out it's something casting directors in Malaysia ask for! But! Its for commercials without dialogue. Apparently…

Hello, I’m pitching a show to Adult Swim and I need to find a few volunteer actors who can fill some roles for me so that I’m not doing all the voices myself. I will gladly credit you and provide links to your work in the production documents. If anyone is interested please contact me at carveypumpkinson@gmail.com. Tha…

Is it me or is there an emotional disconnect with Kevin Spacey’s acting? It’s like nearly overacted but not and there is a slight blur where I can’t connect emotionally with his characters that always leaves me guessing or thinking more into the characters. My question is if this is intended or a flaw in his acting tha…

I'm 20 years old and have wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember. I did plays in high school and even won a state wide talent show with a monologue, but I gave up for about two years after graduatiing high school. I recently got back into it and have been resume building in my small Midwest state only sinc…

I had been struggling with how to prepare for this audition, as it is a scene where I have no lines, but I'm assisting someone in a reenactment. Some of it is reenacting very violent things, but my character is also very unconvincing in their acting. I join the virtual waiting room and get called in early, and the only…

Hi all, A few weeks ago, I was asked to give a free online talk on the business side of voiceover by the Collective Creative Initiative - a company that streams free content for actors and freelancers every day, then keeps the streams available for about 2 months after. My talk lasts about 50 minutes and covers agents,…

I (14f) am planning on applying to every high-quality drama school (with an emphasis on Yale) I possibly can when I graduate highschool. Until then, I have plenty of time to get better and grow as both an actor and a person. My questions are: must you be exceptionally talented to get in, or do the admissions folk look…

So I used to do ADR work for a popular ADR studio for some niche anime titles back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Incidental stuff, mainly, but it was fun. A side character here and here, the odd bad guy getting beat up or the background characters. You get the idea. I still have some audition scripts for characters…

Obligatory disclaimer: I am fourteen and simply curious to hear the opinions of fellow Redditors. I fully intend on going to drama school when I finish highschool. I believe it’s what’s best for me and my situation, since I don’t live in a place with anything resembling an acting community and need to grow as an actor.…

I've recently gotten curious about this, so I was hoping someone here would educate me. My basic perception of stage acting in general is that it's supposed to be an elevated reality. Movements and acting larger than life. Also that it's more of a 'trained' technique than a naturalistic one. I'm sure there is some vari…

I was watching a Q&A of the actress Emily Watson at Oxford University and she said that she “doesn’t audition anymore” apart from screen testing for blockbusters produced by Hollywood. And said that she “didn’t really” have to audition for things after she received her Oscar nomination for Breaking the Waves. Is this a…

I’m a late bloomer when it comes to acting. Ok so I'd say that generally I'm a pretty good actor. When I'm alone at home, I can easily get into character and the emotions etc just come naturally. But whenever I'm trying to record myself or perform in front of my friends, I feel like everything I do (speech, facial expressions, etc) is forced and unnatural. It's…
